(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) -- ABF Freight System, Inc. has been named an official "Supplier to the 1996 Olympic Games" which begins this month in Atlanta.

The Fort Smith, Arkansas-based motor carrier has been on-site coordinating and supplying transportation services for materials for construction, set-up and site-maintenance. ABF will be working directly with warehouses and venues coordinating the replenishment of materials during the course of the games. At the conclusion of the games in early August, ABF will also be the LTL motor carrier for the outbound movement of goods.

"As the Centennial Olympic Games draw ever nearer, suppliers such as ABF Freight System, Inc. become ever more important," said Billy Payne, president and CEO of The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG). "ABF and its employees will help us stage the world's largest peacetime gathering of nations, athletes and citizens."

ABF Freight System, Inc. is the nation's fourth largest LTL motor carrier of general commodities. They have direct service to all 50 states and nine Canadian provinces, with reliable single-bill service to Mexico and 161 other countries around the world.
