Jim McFarlin named Director of Safety and Security
(Fort Smith, Arkansas, January 20, 1997) -- Jim McFarlin has been named Director of Safety and Security for ABF Freight System, Inc. He replaces Elmer Belcher, who retired after 30 years with the company
A ten-year veteran with the company, McFarlin brought 20 years of law enforcement experience with him when he joined ABF in July 1986. After four years as Supervisor of Security, he was promoted to Manager of Security in 1990. His promotion to Director of Safety and Security came this month.
His professional affiliations include serving on the Criminal Detention Facility Review Committee for Arkansas District 12 and on the transportation committee of the American Society for Industrial Security. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native is also a member of the Arkansas Chapter of the FBI Academy Associates, and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. He serves on the American Trucking Association's Transportation Loss Prevention & Security Council's board of directors and the ATA Safety Management Council.
Prior to joining ABF, he had been a sergeant in the Arkansas Army National Guard and lieutenant in the North Little Rock Police Department. Jim is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
