Negotiations to begin for National Master Freight Agreement (NMFA)
Freight Companies, Teamsters to Exchange Goals at National Press Club
(Washington, D.C.) Negotiations for the National Master Freight Agreement (NMFA) will get underway as the TMI Carriers and the Teamsters exchange bargaining goals. A press conference will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the National Press Club. Both sides will take brief questions.
TMI is a division of the Motor Freight Carriers Association (MFCA) and represents authorized companies in the NMFA negotiations with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
The NMFA covers an estimated 65,000 Teamster members across the United States.
The current NMFA expires March 31, 2003.

MFCA is the national trade association representing the unionized general freight carriers. Formed in 1997, MFCA has as its mission to promote the economic interests of unionized motor freight carriers. Its TMI Division represents four authorized companies in the NMFA negotiations with the IBT. Those four companies are ABF Freight System, Roadway Express, USF Holland and Yellow Transportation. Employing some 80 percent of the Teamsters covered by the National Master Freight Agreement, these carriers serve 2.5 million customers in all 50 states and transport 2.63 million tons of freight over 2.2 billion miles each year.
