ABF® maintains a weighing and research program at select hub and major city terminal operations. The purpose of the program is to verify the accuracy of weight, description, and densities of shipments tendered to ABF. This ensures that each shipment handled moves at the applicable rate.
ABF maintains a policy of lowering the weight or class when discovered to be too high. Consequently in 2007, ABF helped customers save $13,979,355 by reducing the revenue on 452,398 shipments with a tonnage of 79,640,439 pounds.
