ABF proves the old adage 'less is more'

By offering customized solutions to meet the particular needs of individual customers, ABF is constantly changing what it means to be an LTL carrier. Customers who make ABF their carrier of choice know they can expect more from ABF. Others sometimes assume the label, “LTL Carrier,” implies limited capability. The truth is just the opposite. It’s like the old adage, “less is more.”

A furniture manufacturer learned the wisdom of that adage when it landed a lucrative contract with the U.S. Military Academy. Thinking LTL carriers incapable of being price competitive, the manufacturer had typically shipped with truckload carriers. Then, after landing the West Point contract, the manufacturer learned that the 200-year-old institution wouldn’t accommodate the 53-foot trailers used by TL carriers. Moreover, the furniture needed to be loaded and unloaded by hand. This would require flexible pickup and delivery times, which the TL carrier couldn’t provide.

Suddenly, the contract didn’t seem so lucrative after all, especially if the manufacturer had to pay more than expected for shipping.

Ultimately, the manufacturer turned to ABF for help. Much to their surprise, ABF offered extremely competitive pricing. Our 28-foot pups were fully compatible with West Point’s landmark facilities. And our flexible pickup and delivery service allowed for easy loading and unloading.
